What are nutraceutical products and which products do we recommend?

At the Derwent Nutrition area of Derwent Group, we aim to do what we can to help you find the greatest benefits for your pet’s health. We are therefore going to offer an analysis of the products our company offers for the welfare of your pets after first explaining what these products consist of.

Nutraceutical products are one of the best options for caring for the health of pets, especially dogs and cats. In many cases, it is not enough just to give them a balanced diet; they need additional nutritional supplements that provide their bodies with numerous benefits. This is the best way to look after them and ensure they will continue to live with the family until a ripe old age.

Nutraceutical products: what are they?

Nutraceutical products are nutritional supplements of natural origin. They have numerous biological properties that provide many benefits to the pet’s body. The best thing about these supplements is that they play a therapeutic and preventive role.

It is very important to note that nutraceuticals are not drugs, so their consumption has no negative impact on the animal’s health. On the contrary, their aim is to improve the quality of life and well-being of pets.

At Derwent Nutrition we are committed to the health and welfare of pets, so today we are going to talk about Dibaq products, in their Nutravet range for dogs, formulated by Visavet (Complutense University of Veterinarians in Madrid), and the Purity Castrate range for cats, formulated by veterinary experts who belong to the nutritional and veterinary team of our company.

We have 2 references in the range of Dibaq products for dogs (Nutravet) and 8 in the range of products for cats (Purity), but today we are only going to talk about the products for neutered cats:

Nutravet Parasites Stop: helps to control parasitic processes, stimulating their defences and improving their intestinal health and liver and kidney functions.

Nutravet Tumor Help: specially designed for dogs that are suffering from tumours, helping to control them and improving their health.

Purity Castrate: a complete diet for overweight adult cats and sterilised cats with a tendency to become obese. A Grain Free formula with fresh, highly digestible chicken rich in collagen and elastin. Contains iron and zinc, important for blood and tissue oxygenation and healthy skin. High content of linoleic acid. Its main characteristics are:

– 80% animal protein.

– Dandelion leaf, which stimulates the activity of the digestive organs and the secretion of gastric juices. Helps combat inflammation of the urinary tract and kidney stones. Improves appetite.

– Blackcurrant, rich in vitamins and minerals. Slows down the ageing process, strengthens the immune system, and has a positive effect on the elasticity of blood vessels.

– Milk thistle, with antioxidant properties. Supports the growth of liver cells, has a positive effect on liver function and protects the liver from toxins.

– L-carnitine, which helps burn fat and protect the heart muscle.

We will now take a look at the Derwent Nutrition products of outstanding quality that are so beneficial to your pet’s health.

Nutravet Parásitos Stop

What are its benefits?

Its high olive content is a source of essential fatty acids, which have a beneficial effect on the cells of the intestine, creating a hostile environment for the development of pathogenic micro-organisms and helping eliminate possible intracellular parasites.

With just the right percentage of protein and a low level of phosphorus, it does not overburden the organs and ensures that they function properly. As a result, their general condition and regeneration will significantly improve.

A careful selection of plants, herbs, extracts and oils such as caraway, clove, liquorice, oak bark, oregano, rosemary and thyme act at the intestinal level to protect the mucosa and regulate the movement of food through the intestine. The absorption of nutrients is enhanced and the food flows freely, preventing the proliferation of parasites and pathogenic micro-organisms.

The addition of purified Mannan Oligosaccharides (MOS), components that adhere to the membranes of blood defence cells, stimulates the cleansing of pathogenic micro-organisms and the production of antimicrobial substances and reduces inflammation.

Parasitic infections often lead to a reduction in your pet’s muscle mass. DNM NUTRAVET PARASITES STOP is designed to minimise this loss by providing the protein they need to regain their health and energy.

Nutravet Tumor Help

What are its benefits?

In the presence of foreign elements, the pet’s body produces reactive oxygen molecules (called free radicals) that oxidise cells and destroy them. But that’s not all: chemotherapy treatments also increase free radicals, which attack both tumour cells and healthy cells. Natural antioxidants such as tocopherols from olives or vitamin C from oranges protect cells and restore natural balance to your pet’s body.

The careful selection of plants, herbs and extracts such as aniseed, cinnamon, garlic, gentian, orange peel oil and mint combats the loss of appetite suffered by animals with cancer during chemotherapy treatment, acting at the digestive level, improving their body condition and stimulating their appetite thanks to their choleretic and cholagogue properties. It also improves liver function and biliary and pancreatic secretions.

The purified mannan oligosaccharides (MOS) contained in DNM TUMOR HELP bind to the membranes of defensive blood cells, stimulating the production of antimicrobial substances and the elimination of pathogenic micro-organisms and reducing inflammation.

Dogs with tumour processes suffer from muscle wasting, atrophy and weakness. The antioxidant effect of DNM TUMOR HELP increases your pet’s muscle enzyme levels contributing to muscle regeneration. This is particularly important in older dogs with other conditions such as osteoarthritis, which improves with increased muscle mass.

Regardless of the type of cancer, all afflicted dogs need the strength to fight the disease. DNM TUMOR HELP is designed with the idea of feeding the animal but not the cancer cells, which feed directly on sugars and carbohydrates. The feed has a low glycaemic index, resulting in a better metabolism of sugars and preventing insulin peaks.
